Ragtime into Jazz

Another computer jazz opus: to illustrate the transition from the formalized charm of Ragtime to improvised 'hot' jazz, here my Macintosh Rag (posted on 5th January) is played by the same line-up as on my Blues for Kid Ory in stompin' New Orleans style.

The picture, by the way, is of Jelly Roll Morton 's Red Hot Peppers (1926) and I certainly don't claim any comparison with them (the best New Orleans band ever to record), it's just the best picture I could find to suggest the line-up. In fact my piece is more in the slightly earlier style of Freddie Keppard.

Created in GarageBand: mixed in Cubase LE.
