The Victoria Embankment, London, on 2nd January 1962. We rarely see snow like this in central London these days: 1961-2 was an old-fashioned long hard winter. The carol you are hearing (if you haven't stopped it in disgust) was recorded in 1909 by 'A Church Choir' (four people) as one of a very popular series of hymn recordings on the 'Twin' label (so called because it was double-sided).
