STUDIOS: C21 (1962)
First of a sequence of three pictures of C21 in 1962 and 2004, graphically demonstrating just how much the job had altered over the 42 years. In this 1962 picture the Type B Mk 2 desk is in its original form; there were no tape machines, just grams - TD7s for 78s (shown) and RP/2s for LPs (out of shot). The speaker is an LSU/10. The small speaker to the right of the window is the Newsroom tannoy (kept turned off most of the time).
