CENTRAL TAPE ROOM


CTR

Tape recording: there were no tape machines in studios up to the middle 1960s so all recording and editing was done in remote channels. Tapes could be played into studios (and started by them) from the two Central Tape Rooms: this is CTR2, showing some of the tape machines - BTR2s again - and the console on the desk with source selection for each machine as they were also used for recording and making multiple copies.
