Haiku, you ku, we all ku

A haiku has seventeen syllables
It does not have to make sense

Strictly the Japanese mini-poem known as a haiku should have three lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables: it should be reflective and probably about nature. However in English many people have created slightly more flexible haikus - in general not worrying too much about the exact seventeen syallables business.

The Davtri Haiku Generator is a little free Mac OSX program which invents haikus for you, thus saving you the trouble - it's just one of those little useless programs one picks up along the way. (It did not generate the effort above.) Here is a typical example:

a dry hill
snow has stopped the snowflake
red bitter grass

But it will also generate technology-themed haikus to suit the modern age:

a zen bash
OS X crashes the mouse
fried light network card

or

a retro fuse
bus parses the videocard
dark jedi Python

I really must do some work
