Village in 1940

Pedestrian bridge in 1940 More mystery photos: my father took these in 1940, possibly while on his homeymoon - which, though I'm not sure, I believe he spent in Abinger Hammer (which is south of the A25 between Dorking and Guildford): so possibly this village is in that area. Note the Air Raid Warden in the distance in the main photo (it was of course wartime): there is also a distinctive wooden pedestrian bridge in the distance, and the smaller photo shows this from the other side.

[UPDATE: These photographs have now been identified as Shere, a village south of the A25 between Dorking and Guildford.]
