Computer Ragtime

Some more computer jazz - this time a piece in the style which immediately preceded jazz - Ragtime. Strictly speaking Ragtime was a formalized solo piano style, but many of the pieces were orchestrated by the publishers for dances etc. My original piece in the traditional ragtime style, 'Macintosh Rag', is presented as part solo, part orchestrated in a reasonably authentic imitation of the original style. It starts with solo piano and then alternates with the orchestra.

It was created on a Mac using GarageBand, and mixed in Cubase LE.

Incidentally, in case anyone starts muttering about trade marks, this rag is in honour of Charles Macintosh (1766-1843), the inventor of waterproof fabrics.
