We don't get winters like that any more





I took this photograph on January 26th 1963, in the middle of the sort of hard winter we don't normally see any more (at least in the southern half of England). This is the river Avon at Stratford-on-Avon, with Holy Trinity Church in the background: the people are walking on the river, which is frozen.
