Bird's eye viewtook this photo of the Royal Festival Hall on London's South Bank around 1970, from the public viewing gallery (subsequently closed) round the top of the Shell Building. (In fact though the front is open, the sides have windows and in order to get this photo I had to climb onto the sill and shoot through the glass). The Royal Festival Hall has had various refurbishments since then, and is reopening this summer after a major overhaul. One addition is an office block for the hall's staff running alongside the railway, in the area you can see here between the hall and the railway. On the far side of the hall is the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Hayward Gallery, adjoining Waterloo Bridge.
