The Bird in the Boxhis
is a good argument starter. I guarantee that if you drop this one into a group
conversation and go away for a bit they will all be at each other's throats over
it when you come back.
You have a box weighing one pound. You have a bird weighing four ounces. You put the bird into the box and seal the box. (This is theoretical, not cruelty to animals.) The bird stands on the bottom of the box. Now you weigh the box. Of course, it weighs a pound and four ounces. Now the bird flies around in the box, staying out of contact with the floor and sides. What does the box weigh now? And no, I don't know the answer. Posted: Mon - April 14, 2008 at 08:57 AM by Roger Wilmut |
