78rpm label design (3)


Another in an occasional series of record labels. Again, a florid 'artistic' design intended to reflect the label's cultural aspirations.




The Italian Fonotipia label was established in 1904 and specialised in recordings by leading operatic singers: these records change hands at very high prices nowadays, and the only example I've managed to find - I bought it just for the label - is this one. I haven't posted the actual recording because it's of no interest - it's a military band, and not a particularly good one at that.
